What We’re Doing

The following projects are under development by Treadwood as a potential owner or co-owner

Mason Station Adaptive Reuse (under contract), Wiscasset, ME

Mason Station Redevelopment Company LLC is a Joint Venture with North Light Energy LLC, another Maine-based renewable energy development company, formed to explore options for the adaptive reuse of the former Mason Station coal/oil power plant in Wiscasset on the banks of the Sheepscot River in Mid-Coast Maine. While still very early in the concept development stage, and just beginning stakeholder outreach, the site offers features that could make it a strong candidate for redevelopment into a low-impact, renewable energy campus and marina, showcasing the best of Maine ingenuity, and an example of the mutual benefits possible when climate initiatives partner with fisheries and the working waterfront. Loring Energy Projects, Limestone, ME

Treadwood is co-developing the Loring Energy Projects at the Loring Commerce Centre in northern Aroostook County Maine and its existing energy corridor running 200 miles south to the deepwater port of Searsport, ME.

The projects are focused on the development of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (“SAF”), Renewable Diesel, Green Hydrogen, and the transmission infrastructure needed to deliver it to market to meet State, Federal, and International GHG reduction goals in the transportation sector.

  • Maine’s forests produce 16 million mt of sustainably harvested biomass, 50% of which is RINS qualified slash and pre-commercial thinnings

  • SAF is the primary target product, with potential for drop-in equivalents for heating oil, marine and transportation fuels and other products

  • An existing energy corridor, secured through 2105, is strategically located for multiple production facilities to deliver to the Sprague Energy terminal in Searsport, ME

An off-take agreement with a major supplier of SAF and Jet-A to major airlines is being negotiated now, as well as plant and pipeline partners and operators.
